Meet our new attorney, Julisa Edwards

Dear Friends of the Trust,

I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Julisa Edwards as the Humane Society Wildlife Land Trust's new general counsel. Julisa comes to us with a wealth of legal experience, both as a common law and civil law qualified attorney.

She has over ten years' experience in the legal aspects of a wide variety of conservation projects: from supporting the declaration of national monuments in the United States to leading the negotiation of the Forever Costa Rica Project, which created a $50 million trust fund to support Costa Rica's national parks.

Julisa obtained her first law degree in civil law at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra and holds master's degrees in law from the University of London and the George Washington University Law School.

She is fluent in English and Spanish and has a working knowledge of French and Portuguese.  In her free time, Julisa enjoys hiking, yoga and volunteering for greyhound rescue groups.

This year the Trust is celebrating its 25th year of wildlife conservation and education. With Julisa's expertise and dedication, we look forward to further advancing and expanding the Trust's mission. Our former general counsel Steve Swartz, who served the Trust admirably for over 19 years and has been a friend and faithful guardian of our mission, will provide guidance and ensure a smooth transition in this important role.

With best wishes,

Ben Callison
President
Humane Society Wildlife Land Trust
